How To Effectively Avoid Information Overload

0saves

As a person seeking information online, you will no doubt have been subjected to a barrage of conflicting ideas.  This inevitably leads to a total state of information overload, where your mind simply rebels by refusing to take in any more information.

There are ways to combat this information overload effect, and hopefully if you take my advice you will know how.

First log in to your email account and make a list of just how many marketer’s lists you are currently subscribing to.  I bet it is at least ten, and I guarantee not more than two will be offering you anything but conflicting advice. If you want to deal with information overloads debilitating effects, you need to go through these useless people unsubscribing from their lists.  Don’t get me wrong, if following their advice is helping you, then by all means continue.  The truth is if you get told to do one thing five different ways, you will end up doing nothing but feeling confused.

The problem with the internet today is that anybody can proclaim themselves an expert, and anybody can use Photoshop to manufacture proof.  Information overload often occurs when five supposed experts tell you there is only one method that will work, but they all pick a different method.  I recommend you whittle this list of supposed experts down to just a few contenders for your attention, and then don’t subscribe to anyone else’s list.

Yes the internet is a great source of knowledge, but it is also a great source of misinformation.  The main tip I can tell you in your goal to escape information overload, is to simply focus on one thing.  Mark out your goals and the tasks along the way that you need to do to achieve these goals, and then don’t get distracted.  Information overload is only caused because you are trying to follow to many peoples advice at the same time, so stop listening to them, and just focus your efforts in one area.

I know what your thinking, if you are suppose to stop listen to supposed experts, why not start with me.  At least you are catching on, but the truth is I am not another internet marketer peddling plop, but someone who has realized that helping his readers is the true key to success.  I don’t suggest you listen to me exclusively as that would be silly.  I may not be even talking about the issues that help your primary goal, but I will at least be on your side.  I recommend you go through your email inbox and cross off anyone who has forgotten that they are supposed to be helping you, and in this way you should be able to lesson the effects of information overload.

Trust me I know what it is like.  When I first started out I was going in every direction at once, and arriving nowhere.  It was only when I learned that all these peoples supposed advice amongst sales pitches only offered me information overload and paralysis, that I crossed them off and concentrated on building a real business.  Hopefully you will learn the same lesson soon, as you to many people simply give up because of their confusion and information overload.
