Facebook Marketing; Is it The New Google?

Posted by Aerion Miles on April 6, 2010 under Social Networking, Website Traffic | 18 Comments to Read

facebook fan pageFacebook marketing is taking the internet world by storm at the moment, and it is no surprise at all.

Not only is facebook marketing very easy to get into, but it looks like Facebook are about to kick Google to the kerb.

Did you hear about the planned search engine on Facebook?  It will completely wipe Google out.  As it is more people are logging into Facebook than searching Google, and when this is released Mark Zuckerburg will have the search market rapped up.

The reason Facebook marketing is so effective is precisely because of this huge growth, and loyal user base.  To start a group or fan club on Facebook cost you nothing.  Did I get you thinking yet?!?

Here is a plan to you can use today, to completely dominate Facebook.

First of all you need to find a CPA offer that you could build a fan club or group around.  Make sure it is one that doesn’t make people jump through to many hoops.

Next you set up a Facebook  group with a catchy name, that stays in the same niche as your CPA offer.

As soon as you have the group set up on Facebook you need to start adding content.  The content only needs to be a few posts a day, but most be interesting and relative to your blog.  Once you have done this for two days its time to kick the plan into overdrive.

Look down the left side of your Facebook group’s profile and you will see a button that says “Advertise your group”  This will take you to a version of Google Adwords,, but specifically for Facebook.  This is where Facebook marketing really starts.

You will need to have an interesting advertisement but don’t forget that Facebook users are known to be “click happy,” and respond very well to adverts.

Make sure you only target people within your niche, as this will vastly boost your click through rate.

To start with you should set your bids at 10c per thousand impressions.  Unlike Goggle, Facebook users click everything, and with this in mind CPC is in my experience far more expensive.

Hopefully you have followed the plan so far, but now what do you do?!?

Time for the best part.

Now your group will take about 1 month to grow to the 20,000 followers mark, and an average of $80 spent on Facebook marketing, but once you hit the 20,000 mark it will go viral.

So many people will be recommending your group at that stage, that you no longer need to advertise, and it will keep growing.

As soon as you hit 20,000 followers stop paying for Facebook advertisements, and start marketing your CPA offer on your group page.  Every member of your group will get your pitch for the CPA offers, and as we know Facebook users are click happy.

This is a really easy Facebook marketing method, that really can earn you thousands of dollars within one month.

Four Tips To Successful Listbuilding

Posted by Aerion Miles on under Website Traffic | 15 Comments to Read

As a marketer, an online business or anyone looking to profit from the internet, there is one thing you need.

Building your list is the most important thing you can do as an online business.  Listbuilding is not just a good idea, it honestly is the only long term plan with any value.

When you have a list, you have a means of making money any time you like.  So you need to build your list, and your looking for listbuilding tips right?

Here are 4 tips to successful listbuilding, that if used will sky rocket your success.  Don’t assume that merely reading them and moving on will help you in anyway though.

I am going to tell you 4 REAL tips, that DO work IF YOU USE THEM.

Giveaway Events

Giveaway events are excellent ways to boost your list quickly.

First of all you need to go and find some giveaway events, and this shouldn’t be hard as they are everywhere.

Next you need to sign up for them.  In most cases this is free and you will only be charged if you want to have an offer for the customer, after they have downloaded your free gift.

You can use any old PLR from your hard drive, but it will work best if you re-brand it.  I recommend a new cover, and making sure the text inside makes sense as you don’t want a resentful list.

Add your offer to all the giveaway events you can, and you will see a huge increase in your listbuilding success.  It really works, so give it a go.

Just Ask

When you have a list you should be giving them great value for staying on your list.  If you don’t do this you are sabotaging your listbuilding activities.  Great so your offering value and your list love you, but have you actually asked anyone in your list to recommend you to others.

Think about it for a second.  You have been offering huge value, and your list appreciate it.  Why not simply ask them if there is anyone they know that would appreciate being on your list.

The best way to do this is to have a webpage up with a recommend a friend script.  This makes it very simple for people to help you with your listbuilding activities, and believe it or not, some will.

The Incentive For Help

This listbuilding method is a variant on the last, which can also go viral.

First you need to set up a 3 page website specifically for this method.  First you have page 1 for your current list.  This is where they use a “tell a friend” script, which once used will send them to page 3 where they get a free gift.

Page 2 should be similar to page 1 but gives them a small gift if they sign up to your list before sending them on to page 1 for the process above to repeat.

By using this method you list will happily recommend you to others to get something they want for free.  The newly recommended people come to see what the fuss is all about, and sign up to your list to get the product.  They are then taken to page 1 where they get a little product and then recommend your list to get the better product at page 3.

If your lucky this method can quickly go viral, and is a lot cheaper than standard listbuilding advertising.

Viral Marketing

This simple little plan is highly effective and you are going to love it.

First you need to make a status message on facebook saying

“This status message entitles me to enter the “win $100 from facebook” game.  For more info visit URL and to enter repost this message.  A winner shall be chosen at random after one week”

This very simple facebook message will go rapidly viral, as facebook users are known to be click happy.  While it will cost you $100 you could have thousands of back links from facebook, and all pointing to your sign up form.  This method will also generate huge interest in your offers very quickly.

I hope you take action on these listbuilding tips, as they really do work.

What is RSS and How Can It Help My Online Business?

Posted by Aerion Miles on March 30, 2010 under Website Traffic | 4 Comments to Read

RSSMany people have researched how to make their businesses more profitable online, but have been left with the question “What is RSS.”

Everybody says how great it is, and how it will help your business.  Unfortunately they have not been to forth coming with what it actually is.

An RSS feed is very much like a text only version of your website, that can be displayed in any number of locations.  You can take this text only version and quickly and easily submit it to feed aggregators.

Feed aggregators are like libraries for these feeds.  People can go to these online RSS feed libraries and subscribe to them.  Many people like to subscribe to a blogs feed for the purposes of keeping up with what is going on with a company or person.

As a business you can create an RSS feed easily for any blog, and then post this feed to the aggregators.  The RSS feed will automatically update on the aggregators website, in real time.

So what is the advantage, what is RSS, and how does it help.

Well as we have these RSS feeds aggregated in multiple locations, every time we update our website, each aggregated feed will also automatically update.

By putting links in our blog, we not only give the link juice from that one link, but also from every updated feed that mimics it.

Also it should be noted that RSS feeds always have links back to the original source they are drawn from.  These are effectively back links, and as you may know, back links increase our chances of showing up higher in the search engine results.

Hopefully by this stage your question, what is RSS and how can it help my business, is starting to seem like one you are very glad you asked.

There are a vast number of RSS feed aggregators available for you to submit your feeds to.  Each one will count as yet another back link, and will also helping to promote anything you link to.

I recommend cross linking to different posts within your blog.  This will give you many back links via the RSS feeds pointing to your individual blog posts.

By having these links to actual blog posts within your RSS feed, you will help to funnel any readers back to your actual website.

So now you maybe wondering how this can help you if you do not have an accompanying blog for your website.  You may ask, what is RSS for if you don’t have a blog.

Many people assume that RSS is a function purely for a blog, but in fact this is not true.  There are now many online internet services, that will create an RSS feed of your static website.

The advantage of creating a feed for a static website is obvious.  You will be able to have all the advantages of an RSS feed, even though you don’t have a blog.

While this approach is an effective way to promote your business online, I think it is more effective, to not only create and submit feeds from your main website.  But also to have an accompanying blog where you can answer your customers questions, and also to generate even more link juice back to your main website.

Hopefully this article has put the question, what is RSS, finally to rest.  Now you know how it can help your business, I highly recommend you get to work creating feeds, and aggregating them.

Why Using Negative Keywords Can Help Your PPC Campaign

Posted by Aerion Miles on March 12, 2010 under Pay Per Click, Website Traffic | 10 Comments to Read

If you have a PPC campaign currently running I’m sure you’re wondering about the negative keywords section.  A negative keyword, is a keyword which if entered will stop your keywords from showing up in the result.

The advantage of this type of keyword in your PPC campaign is that it can help you to eliminate wasted clicks from people who just want something for nothing.  Many people will search across the Internet looking for a free version of something which they know they will eventually have to buy.  The unfortunate effect of this is that because this type of surfing is so prevalent you can waste lots of money advertising to people that have no intention of buying anything.

In any type of PPC campaign your main interest should be your ROI (Return on Investment) and if there is a way to reduce the amount of clicks you pay for between sales, then this certainly needs to be investigated.

I found that in most PPC campaigns adding the keyword “free” and “free download” to my negative keywords list, caused a noticeable increase in my conversion rate.

In case you’re wondering what a conversion rate is, it is the name we give to the amount of clicks divided by the amount of sales we made.    A large part of improving your PPC campaign revolves around various methods of boosting your conversion ratio, and while there are many different methods you can use I urge you not to neglect the negative keywords.

Another thing to consider when setting up a PPC campaign is that Google Adwords are not the only advertising company online, though they may pretend they are.

Another great company advertising via a PPC campaign is Bidvertiser, though their effectiveness will depend largely upon the niche you are in.  Overture is another provider of the PPC campaigns service, and many people consider them better than Google Adwords, though I think it really depends upon the niche you are in.

When trying to compile a list of negative keywords to add to your PPC campaign, I suggest you look at the other websites competing for your main keywords.  What you should try and do, is discover what the free alternative is to what you are selling, and make sure that those people are not coming through to your website via your PPC campaign.

Sometimes I have found it very effective to add my competitors name to my negative keyword list.    The reason this has been the case, is that they were looking for a particular product, and finding that I was not selling it, moved on after costing me one click.  By adding my competitors name to my negative keyword list, I found in some cases my PPC campaigns conversions improved dramatically.  Though in other PPC campaigns it turned out that my main buying traffic had actually been looking for a competitor’s product and instead decided to buy mine.  By blocking those keywords I had blocked my buying traffic.

The route to go with this will depend upon the niche you are in, but I advise testing as you could be leaving money on the table.

How To Use Solo Ads To Increase Traffic To Your Website & Build Your List

Posted by Aerion Miles on March 11, 2010 under Website Traffic | 4 Comments to Read

Traffic Jam

I’ve been doing some testing with solo ads, to see whether they are actually as good as sending an e-mail to my own list or not.  So far it’s looking very good, so I thought I’d write down what I’ve learned so far and share it with you.

You may be aware that it takes a long time to build up a good-sized mailing list, and that in spite of what many people may say, it really is not that easy to do.

That’s where solo ads come in, as you can send an e-mail or advert to someone else’s list, and possibly even use this to build your own list.  There are many types of solo ads, so it is important to make sure you choose the right one for your campaign.

There are many companies that offer solo ads to their lists.  These include traffic exchanges, e-zines, and sometimes you can even pay an individual to send your advert to their list, if the list is of sufficient size.

It does cost money to send solo ads but it can be very profitable if you offer is both good and highly targeted.  You probably already know the importance of building a huge mailing list, and this is where Solo ads can be really useful.

First you need to create a free offer of some kind that people within a certain niche will sign up for.  I suggest testing this offer until you have a good idea of the conversion rate from viewers to sign-ups, as this will make it far easier to know how responsive a solo advert will be.

If you find that one in 10 people who see your offer sign up then you know that sending solo ads to 100,000 people will probably build you a list of 10,000 people.  Obviously this is a huge advantage if you can make it happen, but the reason you test your advert first is to make sure you don’t waste your money.  Consider if your conversion rate was zero, then it wouldn’t matter if you sent your solo ads out to 50 million people, as you still would not get a single sign up.

Always start small when sending a solo advertisement.

However when you find it works and actually makes you money, or builds your list, then send targeted solo ads to the limit of your financial capacity.

Remember that the best way to send large solo ads, is to use the money that you have made from the last solo advert.

When you get it right, just keep cycling your money upwards and reinvesting and the sky’s the limit.

So if you have been thinking about sending solo ads I highly recommend you try them out, but make sure you do proper testing on a small scale before going completely mad at it.

The main advantage of solo ads in my opinion, is that you often only need to send one or two before you will have a list big enough that you will not need to run any more.

I do have one last word of caution before you proceed with sending solo ads and building your list.

Make absolutely sure that your auto responder company has the best rates available, when your list grows huge.  You may have joined an auto responder company, because they were the cheapest and best value.  However I urge you to check what their prices will be if you have 20,000 to 30,000  subscribers.  Some autoresponder company’s can be ridiculously expensive when your subscriber count rises above a certain point, so just make sure you have the best deal available before being stuck with a very expensive list.  Obviously you would still profit hugely from your list, but it’s always better to get the best deal available to you.

Let me know how it goes for you, and if you have any questions just leave a comment below.

How Google Buzz Can Make You Go Viral

Posted by Aerion Miles on March 7, 2010 under Website Traffic | 4 Comments to Read

Google BuzzI have been doing some research on the notorious Google Buzz recently, and thought I would share what I have learned.

It is actually a whole lot better than Google have said themselves…Or maybe it’s just the way they said it that initially put me off.

Here is the bit they never told you – Free Viral advertising.

I thought that would get your attention, and it’s true.  Google Buzz can be used as a great tool for viral advertising, and it does it in a way that people don’t even realize they are helping to promote your company.

First of all I better explain what Google Buzz does as some of you will not have tried it yet.

In your Gmail account you will have noticed the “Buzz” option directly under your “Inbox.”

What Google Buzz does, is correlate all the pictures, RSS feeds, tweets and everything else, and makes a mega feed.  This feed will appear in the Gmail accounts of the people you have granted access to.

There are two main ways you can set your privacy options, and they are let everyone see or don’t.

What happens next is as you go about your normal business day, every time you send an email to someone Google Buzz tries to get them to look at your feed.

If they comment on your Google Buzz feed, then Google starts recommending that their Gmail contacts have a look to see what was said.

This is a just a basic run through of the process, as it is easy to understand when you are looking at it.

The problem is that Google often annoy people, so when they released Google Buzz many marketers simply refused to even look at it.

When I realized just how viral Google Buzz actually is, I had to come on here and tell you all.

I know Google are big and annoying. And yes they seem to be trying to take over the whole of the internet, but some of the things they make really are good.  Take Google Analytics for example, or Adwords.  Many businesses simply couldn’t function without the big G but still many resent them.

Set aside your old grudges and issues and think of an entirely free viral campaign, completely paid for and maintained on your behalf by Google.  That is what Google Buzz actually is.

Will I be using Google Buzz much myself?  You better believe it.

One word of caution though

If the thing you put on Google Buzz are going to be recommended to your business acquaintances and their friends, be careful of what you put there.

The best feature in my opinion is that Google Buzz actually will build you a follower list automatically, and that ain’t bad.

So that is the good news, but what about the bad.

Well Google Buzz is a great addition to your marketing, and although a little invasive in my opinion, could be a real help.  With that said it does again lead you to invest more time and effort in building your business through Google.

It’s a trade off, of privacy for advertising.  As a marketer I can really see the advantage, and I am using it just because it makes me more money.

What do you think??

Will you be using Google Buzz, or telling Google to Buzz off??

How to Get Backlinks – Drive that Traffic in the Right Direction

Posted by Aerion Miles on October 22, 2009 under Search Engine Optimization, Website Traffic | 2 Comments to Read

A backlink is an incredibly helpful way to drive traffic to your website.  It’s important too, if your website’s survival and success depends on having a lot of traffic and to have as many eyeballs as possible scanning your website.  With a new site it can be frustrating trying to figure out how to drive traffic to your site.  Getting backlinks is a powerful way to drive that traffic to your website.

So, with this in mind, we’ll review here how to get backlinks.  One of the most common ways people get backlinks is to submit links to your website on as many directories as humanly possible.  There are so many of these directories that it will be helpful to do this.  It may take some time, but it will be worth it.  Before you submit your link to a directory you want to do a little research to be sure first that it does indeed pass on link juice (which we will discuss at a later time) and second that it is a high value directory and will continue to pass on the link juice long ways down the road.  You also want to make sure that the directory you are submitting your link to is relevant with the site you are promoting.  Some good directories to take a look at are:

Link exchanges, or reciprocal linking, are additional methods used by many webmasters and website owners to get backlinks.  If you’re looking to find out how to get backlinks, this is a helpful way; however, it’s important to link only to related sites and to not mass email website owners for reciprocity.  That is a surefire way to be ignored.  Another, possibly more fun, way to get backlinks is to write something highly controversial or exciting that everyone links to, just to share and discuss!  This is called link baiting. Then the readers will link to it over and over again to discuss, and this creates that fire and thus, your backlinks.

Here are some more ways as to how to get backlinks.  This one is good: provide quality content.  Nothing gets backlinks as much as something extremely helpful.  If someone knows that your website has some great information, they are likely to share it with others.  You can also post on a forum.  However, make sure you are not spamming.  Maybe include your link in your signature or something, but don’t spam and leave.  The proper thing to do is to join a forum and contribute value to that forum which will make the reader want to click onto your site to see what else you have to offer.  RSS feeds are another great way to get your backlinks running.  Also, article writing is a great way to have yet more backlinks.  You are usually allowed to put two links either in the article or in the author resource box that will help drive traffic to your site.

Learning how to get backlinks is an essential ingredient in the success of many websites.  One of these final ways is to provide a “link to me” section which includes the code for someone’s website.  A good wordpress plugin for this is Link To Me.  This is a way to get people to include it in their website which makes your job easier.  These are all effective ways to get your backlinks up and running.  Once you get your backlinks up it’s only a matter of time before that traffic starts rolling in.

Increase Your Internet Presence

Posted by Aerion Miles on March 15, 2009 under Website Traffic | Be the First to Comment

Your main goal in your internet marketing business is to drive traffice to your website.  You can have the best product in the world but if you have no traffic coming into your website, how will anyone  know?  The more traffic you have the more visitors and the more profits you make.  Here are five quick ways to increase your internet presence.

Search Engine Optimization
A great way to drive traffic to your website is through the search engines.  Search engines, like Google,  MSN, Yahoo and so forth look at two major things when indexing your website.

How relavant is your website,  meaning how well you can tell the search engines what your website is about.  You have to become a master at “On Page Optimization”.  Ways to optimize your website pages is through your keywords, metadata, site maps, your domain name and website description.  This is majorly accomplished through your content on your website.

The second category which is very important is how many links that point to your website and the relevancy of the link pointing to your website.  This is called “Off Page Optimization.”  The more  relavant and quality links that point to your website the better.  If you have good quality links pointing at your website from websites about your topic and it is also optimized good for your keywords then you should not have a problem ranking well in the search engines.

Pay Per Click Advertising (PPC)
Another way to drive traffic to your website that is alot faster than Search Engine Optimization is through Pay Per Click, (PPC).  As the name relays with this style of driving traffic, you pay for each time someone clicks through to your website.

It’s important to start small with PPC as with any new marketing strategy.  PPC campaigns can get out of control quickly.  You need to do your research, set your budget and stick with it.  Test, track, and analzye your campaigns and pay close attention to your campaign for the best long term results.

Article Marketing

Article marketing is simply what it says;  Article marketing is the process of writing quality articles and submitting them to relavant article directories.  Publishers grab these articles and post them to their websites, blogs, and newsletters all while keeping your author information and link’s to your website in tact.  This produces relavant links to your website (remember SEO), but it also drives traffic to your website after someone reads your content, enjoys it, and clicks through to your website for more quality information.  This method is a highly effective method for generating traffic to your website, and it also is free.  The downside is that it can be labor intensive.  We will talk about ways to make this less painful in the future.

Social Networking

Social networking has hit the internet world by storm and is the newest and best way to attract visitors to your website.  Social networking is the process of communicating with other people/prospects on social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn, and Twitter or any industry specific forums or chat rooms.  Social networking is a very effective method of increasing your presence.  You can build your profile and connect with a large group of people that share a common interest.  A social networking profile typically allos you to list your contact information as well link’s to your website so they can learn more about what you do.  This means when you make connections and provide interesting or beneficial information to other social networkers, they’ll be inclined to visit your website, thus generating traffic and your internet presence.

Affiliates
Last but not least and yet another great way to get traffic is to get affiliates to promote your website.  An affiliate is someone who promotes your product or service for you in return for a commission.Commissions can be based on purchases or click throughs or a combination of both depending on your business and affiliate model.  Affiliates are an exceptional strategy for broadening your audience and increasing your internet presence.

Use any of these five methods or a combination of them to increase your internet presence and help to drive traffic to your website amplifying your earnings.  Choose your strategy and get started growing your business today!!!
