Who Is Paul Wall & How Does He Inspire Me?

I’m a big fan of all music types from classical music to country music to hip hop and R & B. The thing I like about good music is when it tells a story or it can lead you to a certain emotional state or feeling. Tha’ts what music is suppose to do, it’s suppose to inspire you.
If you are feeling down and out you can hear a certain song and you can relate to that song and maybe it will help to motivate you to get out of that mindstate. I wanted to share with you some songs that inspire me to push harder on a daily basis to reach my goals.
Paul Wall is a rapper that has put his own footprint on the industry. Born Paul Slayton he raps out of the Houston area and can be known and affiliated with Swisha House records and other artist such as Chamillionaire and UGK.
One of the things that you may or may not know about Paul Wall is his entreprenurial ambitions. Paul Wall is part owner of TV Jewelry with Johnny Dang in Houston where he is famous for his grill mouthpieces which was a huge exploding trend in the early part of 2000.
Paul Wall knows about working hard to get what you want. He was a part of promotional streat teams and producer of many underground mixtapes that brought recognition for the chopped and screwed up style. All that hard work paid off when he appeared on Mike Jones first commercial single “Still Tippin.”
One of Paul Wall’s newest CD’s out is called “Fast Life.” There are some songs on there that really push my buttons and motivate me. These are the songs that I put on my ipod and make my repeat category.
Here Are Two of My Favorite:
If you are motivated to make money then these two songs should inspire you. Let’s take a look at some of the lyrics on one of these songs:
(Verse 1)
Once upon a time, not too long ago
Down in the great state of Texas where we live life slow
I was born amongst poverty, I had no dough
Motivated by a dream with some hustle and flow
My paper was never long but my ambition was strong
Followin Gods path, I could never go wrong
I took a road less traveled and I got a few scrapes
But the journey was all worth it just to get that cake
Mama told me I would make it, some fools just laughed
But I remembered how The Bible say “The first shall be last.”
And even thought all the teams skipped over me in the draft
I ignored all the haters and perfected my craft
Times change, and nowadays to me it seem funny
The same people hatin, callin me up to borrow money
But i hold no grudge, I just forgave and forgot
I guess thats the reason I made it to the top
Take a look at me now…
(Hook)
Haters said that I would never get this paper
But Ima see my money regardless
Got the soul of a hustla
When it comes to gettin my bread…
…Im heartless
Take a look at me now
Take a look at me now
Take a look at me now
Take a look at me now
Take a look at me now
Now Let’s Break Some of These Lines Down
“I took a road less traveled and I got a few scrapes, But the journey was all worth it just to get that cake ,” - To me this says that it’s okay to be opportunistic and try things that other people wouldnt normally do. Taking such a risk will have its ups and downs but in the end you will have realize a greater reward for taking that risk.
“And even though all the teams skipped over me in the draft
I ignored all the haters and perfected my craft ” – How many haters have you come across that tell you that you can’t and wont make it? How many people have told you that your ideas and your dreams were crazy and that you were simply living a fantasy life.? When you tell someone you are starting your own business how many people have just laughed in your face? Are you shaking those haters off and mastering what you are best at?
“Times change, and nowadays to me it seem funny , The same people hatin, callin me up to borrow money” - What is it they say about karma…ha!! When you make it the same people that laughed in your face will be the same ones asking you for help in the future.
I hope you enjoyed the songs and the message they send. Maybe they give you a different message, but whatever the message is the main point is to realize what that message is and apply it to yourself and act upon it. You must get up and get motivated or face sittin on the couch forever.
